Earlier this year evangelist
Dan Owens and the Eternity Minded Ministries ministry team traveled to
Gitega Burundi, a small village in Africa, where they ministered to the
people through five evening festivals, and daily visitations to local
churches, orphanages, prisons, hospitals and military quarters. Over
75,000 people heard the Gospel message, and more than 5,000 people
accepted Jesus Christ as their personal savior and came forward to
profess their faith.
Gitega is an area that has
been greatly affected by civil unrest, spiritual darkness, and famine
for many years. Eternity Minded Ministries (EMM) will be returning to
Gitega the first week of May with Seed for the Soul and Seeds
for Humanity. Each person that stepped forward during the festival
will be invited to return to a New Believers Rally to receive a
brand new Bible and an Agricultural Aid Package complete with seeds and
hoe to grow food for their family. Eternity Minded Ministries is also
building a Christian school in Gitega where local children will have a
place to receive an education and become grounded in the Word.
In this area of the world
most Christians do not own their own Bible. In fact, many churches only
have one Bible available for the entire church. Dan Owens says "It is an
unexplainable joy to watch as the Lord draws 5,000 new believers into
His Kingdom. To return to these people, see the transformation, and then
hand them a brand new Bible is a true blessing."
During this visit, the EMM
Team will also be meeting with the team of pastors assigned to assist in
planting new churches in the area to support the new believers. "This is
all part of our holistic ministry" says Dan Owens. Owens continues by
stating "I have said many times that I refuse to be an evangelist that
preaches the Gospel, tallies up the converts, and then hops on a plane
never to return. We have an investment in our new brothers and sisters
and it is our responsibility to ensure they have what they need to grow
spiritually and continue in their walk of faith."
Eternity Minded Ministries'
partners are invited to sponsor a new church plant for two years. $1,200
(or $50 per month) will financially sustain a new church for the two
year period. Dan Owens also provides local pastors with discipleship
training and includes them in Eternity Minded Ministries' pastoral
mentoring program where they will receive encouragement and continued
education to help them continue to grow spiritually.
