Punchana, Iquitos, Peru
Are you tired of bad news? We
are drowning in a cesspool of bad news and negativity. It seems
that our society feeds off chaos and enjoys promoting feelings
of despair. As believers, we have been called of Jesus Christ to
share Good News so we can rise above and live above the
political and economic woes of our day.
Today I want to bless you
with some good news! In fact, not only do I want you to read
some good news, but I want you to view some as well. You are
making a difference in people's lives in so many ways and in the
mighty name of Jesus Christ I want to thank you!
I want to share with you the
video entitled Festival de la Amistad.
WATCH VIDEO
I think you will find it to
be very good news as we share with you so many of the wonderful
things that God accomplished in Iquitos, Peru through your
giving and your prayers. This festival took place last October
in the San Juan District of Iquitos. Since we will be returning
to Iquitos June 2-10 for ministry in the Punchana District, we
thought this would encourage you to stand behind us once again.
It is my prayer that you will not only watch this short but
powerful video, but that you will share it with family and
friends. I know that you believe in this ministry that the Lord
has called us to and that you are an important part of. It is my
desire that as others see this Peru report that they will also
want to become involved in the work that Eternity Minded
Ministries is doing around the world.
As we return to Iquitos, Peru
and the Punchana District we have great expectations that God
will once again do powerful things. At this time we have a team
of thirty people that are going with us to preach Christ,
distribute medicine, give eye exams, dispense glasses, and
minister to the people in a number of ways.
The Mayor of Punchana
District, Mr. Joiner Vasquez, recently welcomed EMM by saying,
"After the many great things I have heard about your ministry in
the San Juan District, I am happy to welcome you to Punchana and
I am happy to be working with you. I offer my full support in
everything you are planning." Once you view the DVD you will
more fully understand why the Mayor would welcome us.
We have already seen how the
people of Iquitos are to the Gospel. We have felt their
appreciation for the stoves you helped us give for the Glass of
Milk project. We have watched parents open their hearts to
Christ as you have given their children medicine to rid them of
worms. Now, let's continue on with the work in Iquitos!
Our ministry takes place June
2-10 in the Punchana District, which is the port section of the
city. With music, fireworks, and the power of the Holy Spirit we
will proclaim the Salvation of the Lord! I need your help to be
able to fulfill the commitment we have made to Mayor Vasquez.
Our goal is to raise $80,000 by June 1st -- the same amount we
spent on the San Juan District. This will allow us to reach for
Christ as well as continue our mission there with the stoves and
the Glass of Milk project for the poor and provide medicine for
the children.
Our goal is to purchase 200
stoves for Punchana at $150.00 per stove and de-worming medicine
and vitamins for 1,000 children at $14.28 per child. We are
trusting God that, once again, we will all be able to sacrifice
and give towards this festival to change lives forever!
